Eight years ago, I was plagued by kids pounding my mailbox with bats during baseball season. After replacing several boxes and much expense, it was time to look for a long term alternative. I found you! Of course, shortly after my new Ft Knox Box was first installed, it was tested (as evident by some wood splinters) yet came through with flying colors…and probably broke some idiot’s wrist, arm and shoulder. This weekend, though, my noble mailbox had its ultimate test: Some Einstein shot it with a shotgun!
Yes, the paint job was damaged, as were its house numbers, but that shotgun blast was no match for your 1/4″ thick steel! Thanks again for a first-rate, excellent Made in the USA product!

Called today to request “Fort Knox Mailbox” replacement stickers for our mailbox. We installed this mailbox not long after we moved into this home almost 20 years ago. It was a “developed farm” and the locals were not inclined to stop using our three wooded acres as their beer party venue. When my son and I challenged them, they responded by knocking over the original wood post mounted mailbox. At that point, we bought our Fort Knox, and have not had an issue since!
You’re awesome! Thank you!!

Hello, I just received (2) of your Fortress Boxes. These were definitely worth the wait! I am confident these will be our “forever” mailboxes. I really appreciate your company delivering premium quality and going to this level with the details. I am sometimes a difficult customer, but everything (including the packaging) was over the top. I will recommend your products whenever I have the chance. Thank you

The last box I purchased and installed got destroyed in less than a year, so I resolved to find a mailbox that could actually survive a bit of punishment. I ended up picking out The Fortress.
Some fool just hit this box hard enough to completely obliterate their entire side-view mirror assembly (glass was completely shattered and only held together by the backing, and the plastic housing was in shards all over my driveway.) The Fortress, by comparison… is missing a small section of powdercoat, and stands ramrod straight as always. *Thank you* for making exactly what I needed. –

Just wanted to say thank you for an amazing mailbox. In the picture you can see they did not get into my mailbox so again thank you and my neighbors are asking what it is so I’m sending them your way. Thanks for the quality American made product.
Tim J. –
I wanted a mailbox that would hit back if someone tried to take a bat to it, and this certainly fits the bill!
Nick T. –
Last month I sent you a photo of my Ft. Knox Mailbox that was ‘attacked’ by a shotgun-toting idiot. Just wanted you to know my box is repainted, re-lettered and back on post. Learned from my postal carrier that others on my highway with those big-box cast aluminum mailboxes didn’t do as well. Those owners found their mailboxes in tiny pieces…only the post remained.
The mail carrier was so impressed by your design, she has been spreading the word and so if you see a spike in sales from this area.
Best regards,
Nick T.

Amazing quality and durability. Really impressed with this family run business and love the mailbox design and knowing it can withstand anything thrown at it (literally!).

Fort Knox Mailbox is a great family owned business with a great product. The mailbox is very well put together with an attention to detail. There are also a lot of fun colors to pick from. Worth the investment.

The owners at Fort Knox run this business with such integrity. They want to help you get exactly what’s best for you instead of just trying to make sales. I’d definitely recommend them to anyone.

My Fort Knox mailbox from 2012 survived by neighbors SUV running over it and suspending the car in mid-air until a tow truck came. If this mailbox can survive a 2 1/2 ton SUV, it can survive anything. I have since ordered a new post to replace the original CBC block structure and will be using the same Fort Knox standard 1/4” steel small mailbox on top. Before and after pics included.

We’ve owned two Fort Knox mailboxes for two different homes. We felt it increased the value of the first home and left…

This is the best and most well made steel mailbox you can buy. Their mailboxes are 100% strong and secure. Ordering is easy and the customer service, should you need it, is exceptional.

We wanted a really tough mailbox that still had a clean, professional appearance, and WOW did Fort Knox deliver! Thank you so much! Great people great product!

Thanks for the over the top great mailbox!

Hi Fort Knox,
We think your mailboxes should be built a little more rugged. I’m not sure ours would survive a direct meteor strike!

PS
We all thought the “gold” you included was a brilliant idea!

I just wanted to say thanks for the great American-made tank-of-a mailbox! I knew the specs when I ordered it, but man…pulling that thing out of the box was impressive. It almost required two people just to get it out of the package! All the rest was great. I love the great packaging, the paint, the tough hinges, the fantastic options offered to me, great security, and overall quality.

Have a Ft. Knox for both business and home and love the security!!. Gerry.

Here is a picture of the final install with the locking latch changed
out to the thumb latch. Mailbox worked out great except that my finish
carpenter put it in while I was distracted and he never read the directions
about the pitch. So I plan to lower the support structure below it because
there is no way it’s coming off. We glued and screwed the base board it’s
sitting on, plus the lag screws go all the way through.
I’ve already had a neighbor down the street ask me about it. He’s had the
same snow plow issues. And, I can’t wait to find the first bat splinters
this summer. LOL
Thanks for the great service and product.

Fort Knox Fortress mailbox 1, new Ford pickup 0
Had a teen driver decide to turn around using driveway across the street. However, when the young driver backed up she ran into the Fort Knox.
Result? Destroyed the right, rear tail light on her Dad’s new Ford truck…bet that cost a bundle!!
Damage to the mailbox? None, other than some minor black paint on the edge getting chipped off.
I am very pleased (not for the damage to the truck by the young driver) with how strong the mailbox is and how we can leave town for up to 2 weeks and not have to stop the mail delivery…and the mail is safe from thieves for everyday incoming mail.
Thanks for designing and building such a great mailbox. Wish all companies would build in the US and take such pride in their products.

Hey, got a FortKnox “The Fortress” mailbox, along with the steel post, about 3 years ago. It’s had a tree fall on it, and my sister inlaw back her car into it, survived both without damage. Last week I awoke to find the post laying across the driveway, 20 feet from where it was installed, a crater where it was planted and the box nowhere to be seen. Finally found it about 60 feet way, the sheared off heads of the bolts were about twice that far away, must have turned into bullets. A car smacked into it and sent it flying. It was beat up pretty bad, but other than 1 small dent, where it bounced off a boulder about halfway thru it’s flight, there was no real damage. The corner damage is fairly minor. Spent yesterday sanding down the post and box, grinding out some scratches, and repainting it all, re-planted it and it looks like brand new. That’s a mean mailbox you guys build. I doubt the car that hit it will be as easily repaired, given the amount of paint chips I found all over the driveway.

Saturday night my Fort Knox mailbox encountered it’s second drunk driver and the mailbox remains the undefeated champion. Still standing, no dents.

Attached, please find a photo of the “Fortress” mailbox I ordered last spring, as installed in a custom brick pillar at my home. You have my permission to use the photo, and/or the following testimony, in your promotional material, advertising or website. Please do not use my last name with such promotion. I may be referred to as “Jason from South Dakota,” if you wish to associate a name. Thank you for your help with the purchase.

I wanted to say “Thank You” for the extra set of bolts. I did attach some pictures of the mailbox and the rock that was thrown at it. We live on a rural road meaning passing cars sometimes test their speed (depending on the age of the driver). I set the rock by the post of the mailbox so you could get a visual on how big it actually is. As you can see from the pictures of the mailbox, it survived the impact, with only sheering off 3 of the bolts.
Now the new bolts are in place and the mailbox is ready to continue weathering the great Northwest.

I thought I would drop you a note of appreciation. We’ve installed our new mailbox and it looks great – and it is clearly well above the others that surround it – in sturdiness, quality, and appearance. It occurred to me to send an email because yesterday we also received the additional key we ordered (delivered to our new mailbox) and I wanted to be sure to acknowledge the follow through and customer service that represents.
Many thanks.
David

I bought my Fort Knox mailbox to prevent mail theft. Shortly after installing it, I found they are one of the toughest boxes made. While my pole had to be replaced, the box survived and the teen learned a tough lesson about paying attention to the road. Unlike my mailbox, the car went to the junkyard.

Hello Fort Knox Folks,
My order was received earlier this week, just FYI, and everything looks great. No problems.
A number of years ago (2007-ish?) I ordered one of your lower end mailboxes for my Dad’s house when we needed to have nursing visits for him three days a week and didn’t want any of his financial account mail to … “walk off”. That worked out great and so years later I remembered you guys and bought my self the Fortress for my new house.
Holy cr*p!! You call this thing the Fortress but I’m thinking of a better name. Give people the option of installing a 120 mm cannon on the top and call it the M1A1 Abrams Mailbox. This thing is a friggin tank! Seriously! Anyway, can’t wait to get it installed … I start that job tomorrow!!
Thanks for a great product and the customer service was excellent as well!

I got my mailbox installed over the Mem Day weekend, lookin good … it wasn’t until then that I realized that you had already made the “battle tank” analogy as written on your business cards. I thought I was being original! Oh well.
Anyway, I had a locksmith over today to install a Medico lock on my front door and I mentioned to him that I just installed my new mailbox over the Holiday weekend. The guy said “Yeah, I noticed that thing when I pulled up” … so I gave him the full Mailbox tour. He was impressed with the quality and workmanship, so I gave him one of your cards.
So … if you get any interest from a locksmith company: Village Lock and Key from Columbia, Md … then … you owe me a beer, I guess !!
Thanks again, the Fortress is great box.

Hi Mike,
I finally got the mailbox installed and with the cement its rock solid. Thank you so much for all your help. I am attaching a picture below. The only issue with the mailbox is, fire, police and other emergency departments need the address numbers on the sides to help get to the correct residence quickly, which I found out is required to have on both sides. I found reflective numbers from Lowe’s and used heavy duty outdoor double sided tape to put them on both sides of the mailbox. Having the numbers on the front of the mailbox doesn’t help with emergency services. This might be something you could incorporate on future mailboxes.
Thanks again.
Richard

Thanks for your time on the phone today. Photos attached.
If you enlarge the pictures of the post you can see the bent corner of the top plate. This is where the last bolt was holding on and the box was hanging off the edge.
If you enlarge the pictures of the box you can see the minor scratches.
The Saturns right side and windshield were toast!! I hope to get pictures of the car.
4 new bolts, nuts and lock washers later and a little metal bending with a big crescent wrench with heat and we are back in business!!
Thanks for a superior product!!
Have a grace day and God Bless

Hi everyone! I just wanted to thank you for making a solid product. I noticed a big deep mark on the corner of my mailbox……it even took the coating off…..but the mailbox is still standing tall! I’d hate to see the damage on the vehicle that struck it and continued to drive on.
Thanks again!

We got our Fortress model a year or more ago. It is great and still as sturdy and beautiful as new. Previously we had two ordinary mailboxes which where destroyed by baseball bats. We lost our third when the post was knocked down and the box was stolen. Since the Fortress was installed no damage or attempts to damage occurred.

Phil B –
Hello, just wanted to write you to tell you how impressed I am with your Fortress mailbox. About 10 years ago my parents bought me this as a Christmas present. Previously this box had survived two prying attempts that I’m aware of. On one occasion I found a broken off large screw driver. Another instance I found a broken pry bar. Little more than chipped powder coat were the results of the prior attacks. This weekend somebody placed a pipe bomb in the outgoing mail slot area that they detonated using a road flare the sheriff believes. From the attached pics you can see that it was strong enough to dent the quarter inch sidewall, bend the outgoing mail slot considerably, and blow the door magnets off, however they did not get in the box. I had to unlock it for the officers to inspect the inside. The officer in charge of the scene remarked that he would be telling all people he comes in contact with to purchase a Fort Knox mailbox after seeing how well mine held up. Apparently there were two other mailboxes destroyed this weekend in the same manner neither survived. Thanks so much, Phil B.
Nanci E –
This morning, when I walked the kids out to the bus stop, I saw glass laying by the side of the road. Trash pick-up day was yesterday, so I assumed that some debris had fallen off the truck as they went by. When I bent down to pick it up, I saw another piece, then another. Soon, I was picking up a 50’ trail of broken mirror and plastic. All of it was right by the road, but I couldn’t figure out what had been hit. It had originated near the mailbox, so I went back to look. There, on the corner that sticks out furthest to the front, was a small scratch in the paint. See photos, attached. I don’t know which of my neighbors is having body work done to their vehicle today, but all it cost me was a $22 bottle of paint, which I just ordered from y’all. My husband and friends thought I was crazy to pay to have a 100lb mailbox shipped to Texas from Oregon, but they are impressed now!!
