    The Small Standard Mailbox has all the fantastic security features of our larger mailboxes, but in a more compact size. The walls are our THICK ¼” steel, with all recessed doors, to prevent pry-attempts, and a welded horizontal shelf at the incoming mail slot to prevent hands from going down inside! Come home at the end of a busy day and feel at peace that your mail is safe inside of this 68 pounds of pure mail security.  This mailbox is best for those who retrieve their mail every 1-7 days.

    While you’re busting out your daily grind, the Small Standard will be protecting your mail. This is the original Fort Knox Mailbox, of 1994. It was initially designed to combat baseball bat vandals, and now stands up to theft attempts, nation-wide. As our world has changed, this mailbox can still withstand beatings AND stand guard over your private correspondence. It’ll be standing strong, at the end of every workday, for decades to come.

    Description

    More Information And How They Work:

    The mail carrier inserts your incoming mail into the open slot at the top (9.5” W x 1.75” H). It drops down into the locked compartment. You will be the only one with a key! Your mail will be waiting inside, safe.

    The Small Standard is pre-drilled on the bottom. 4 holes, 5 ¾” apart, and designed to fit our Small Posts. It can also be mounted on existing posts and surfaces.

    The Small Standard has our amazing, thick powder-coating finish to combat all the elements.

    This is a “limited service” locking mailbox, meaning it’s for incoming mail only. The outgoing mail is an option. When the outgoing mail option is requested, a flag is added along with a small slot beneath the incoming mail slot. This outgoing mail slot will allow for 1-4 envelopes. We recommend if the mail is important, to take it to a locked outgoing box as your outgoing mail cannot be locked up.

    Outgoing mail rests below the incoming slot. Although there is no door concealing the outgoing mail like some of our other models, outgoing mail is still available. You will need to leave your outgoing mail sticking out about an inch for the mail carrier to be able to take (see our cutaway view for an explanation of how this works).

    The body of the mailbox has an overhang that will protect it from vandalism and rain. The door is held closed with an included 7 pin tubular pick-proof lock and incoming mail will rest behind this locked door after the mail carrier drops it in the slot.

      Attached please find some pictures of the custom installation that I performed myself. I am very happy with the results! Although in hindsight, I probably should have ordered the lighter weight 38lb. box, because I almost got a hernia lifting the 68lb. box to the top of the base that I built.

      Just wanted to say that we had an incident a few weeks ago. A driver lost control of his speeding car and hit one of our Fort Knox posts and boxes. He was doing 80-100 mph when he made contact with it. The box was ripped off the post and trapped under the car as he continued into a 16-18 telephone pole that he broke in 2 places. We had to pull the post kind of back to being plumb and beat the box back into shape so the doors would close but hey its still operational. Just wanted to let you know your stuff is tough as h*#l.

      My Fort Knox mailbox from 2012 survived by neighbors SUV running over it and suspending the car in mid-air until a tow truck came. If this mailbox can survive a 2 1/2 ton SUV, it can survive anything. I have since ordered a new post to replace the original CBC block structure and will be using the same Fort Knox standard 1/4” steel small mailbox on top. Before and after pics included.

      I’ve had your standard (10x10x21) mailbox for more than 10 years in front of my property. No one has tired to knock the box while passing and no mail thefts. A few days ago a young man lost control of his truck and went into the ditch, taking out my mail box in the process. It sheered the bolts holding the box to the post and tipped the post slightly. The mail box did major damage to the side of his truck and ripped through the entire length of the fiberglass shell on the bed of the truck. The box and post had scratches and some of the powder coating was removed but no dents in the box or the post or other damage. I got the post out and removed the cement around the base. I’ll be painting the box and post and cementing it back in the ground. Fantastic product!!!!!!

      Ladies and Gentlemen,

      Apparently a truck hit our small standard mailbox while we were out of town. The mailbox is mounted on three vertical railroad ties out of the sidewalk and one horizontal railroad tie under the mailbox. The mailbox and railroad tie under it were thrown about 10-20 feet and the railroad tie was split in two. Various sundry pieces of plastic from the truck’s lights and body were scattered about. I’m happy to say that the mailbox survived without even a dent. Just some paint from the truck was scrapped onto the bottom corner of the mailbox. So the mailbox is quite rugged.

    Shipping Options

    When Will Your Mailbox Ship?

    We have a lot of different models and options, so our inventory is always fluctuating.  We are currently very busy, and below are our average wait times.  If your mailbox is in stock, it will ship the same or next business day. Otherwise, here are our average wait times if not in stock*:

    • 10" Mailboxes (M1-LT & Small Standard): 1 week
    • 12" Mailboxes (Large Standard and Fortress): 1-2 weeks
    • 18" Mailboxes (Vacationer & Senator): 2-3 weeks
    • The Package Box, Vaults & CBUs: 2-4 weeks
    • Ballot Boxes: 4 weeks
    • Smaller accessories if shipping separate will ship the same or next business day
    • Custom work and custom Colors will add 1 week to the above time frames
    • Extra keys can take 10-12 days for delivery
    • FedEx Ground transportation: 1-5 Business Days
    • Freight transportation: 1-9 Business Days

    *Larger quantities or custom orders will take longer.  Feel free to contact us with a more precise shipping date. 

    All Products Ship USPS, FedEx or by Freight.

    Fort Knox Mailbox, LLC. will choose the shipping method in which all items are shipped.  Specified shipping by the customer can add an additional shipping cost.

    All keys will ship via USPS priority.  Expedited shipping is an option for an additional fee.

    Our single mailboxes, except for the Package Box, Vaults and our CBUs ship FedEx Ground.

    If you order a quantity of 4 or more larger items (Mailboxes and Posts), your order will likely ship via Freight.  If you would like a freight quote, please contact us HERE with all the following information:

    • Do you have access to a forklift or a loading dock? (Not required, but reduces shipping rate):

    For freight shipments, if shipping to a business and/or have access to a forklift or loading dock, you can select this option for a reduced amount on freight.  If selected, and shipping is not to a business or you do not have a forklift or loading dock, then Fort Knox Mailbox, LLC. can charge for the misinformation after delivery.  Please make sure that all delivery information is correct.

    Large Items & Larger Quantities Ship Freight

    Order quantities of 4 or more mailboxes can ship freight depending on location and accessorials needed.

    The T-Post for 3 generally ships either FedEx Ground or Freight. We will make the T-Post for 3 in two pieces (Not all welded together) and ship it FedEx ground to be securely bolted together at installation.

    Locks & Keys ship USPS

    All locks and keys ship via USPS when ordered separately from a mailbox.  Expedited shipping is available for an additional cost.  Please Contact US for details and pricing.
