More Information On M1-LT Mailbox And How It Works
The mail carrier inserts your incoming mail into the open slot at the top (10” W x 1.75”H). It drops down into the locked compartment. This compartment is always locked, and you’ll be the only one with a key! Your mail will be waiting inside until you’re ready to get it out. No stressing or worrying about getting there quickly!
The M1-LT is pre-drilled on the bottom. 4 holes, 4 5/8” apart, and designed to fit our LT Posts. However, it can also easily be installed on many surfaces: wood, metal, masonry, etc.
The M1-LT has our amazing, thick powder-coating finish to combat all the elements.
This is a “Limited Service” Mailbox and set up for incoming mail only. If you need outgoing mail, it is an addable option, but outgoing mail cannot be locked. When added, the outgoing mail option exposes the mail for the postal carrier to take. It allows for about 1-4 envelopes at a time. Contact us with questions or view our FAQ page.
Outgoing mail rests below the incoming slot (with an optional outgoing mail capability). Although there is no door concealing the outgoing mail like some of our other models, outgoing mail is still available. You will need to leave your outgoing mail sticking out about an inch for the mail carrier to grab (see our cutaway view for an explanation of how this works).
The body of the mailbox has an overhang that protects it from vandalism and rain. The door is held closed with an included 7 pin tubular pick-proof lock (upgradable) and incoming mail will rest behind this locked door after the mail carrier drops it in the slot.

To the fine folks at Fortknoxmailbox, we received our M1-LT today and wow, just wow. It is a thing of beauty. Tough, sturdy. sleek and good to look at. We are so excited to have secure mail once again! Thank you so much for the high quality product. We will be sure to recommend your company and products to our friends. Thanks again!

We have a Fort Knox mailbox on a pole by the road. It was hit by a speeding car which sent the box flying more than thirty feet. The new Corvette had significant damage. The pole was snapped and went flying. My box didn’t have a dent. We were able to reattach it with a bigger post and we are good to go

I (for my company) purchased one of your mailboxes 9 years ago due to it constantly being broken into, once a week at least … it took 9 years of thieves attempting to pry it open before they decided to just take the whole thing! It’s a testament to your product that they had to resort to taking it (we did have it attached to a base we thought was heavy enough) – but we didn’t have the post before! I am confident that we’ll get that long or longer this time around since we’re putting it in the ground properly. I came right back to you guys for the replacement, thank you for your great mailboxes!

Hello,
Could tell the quality was high simply when unpackaging the items. Your attention to detail to get it here unscratched and quality packaging was tops.
Really Happy with the mailbox and custom address post also.

Just received the mailbox today and couldn’t wait to replace the old one. Man oh man, do you make a slick looking product. Class act! Even though I bought the light version, I was impressed as heck that my arms got a little tired walking the new box out to the mail station to bolt it in place. I absolutely love it! Thanks for making a great product and for your terrific folks there.

Hello,
Just wanted to share a couple pics of Mr. Davis’s new mailboxes.
These boxes are very nice!
Thanks,

Somebody tried to steal my mailbox last week. They started by ramming into it with a pickup truck & managed only a small dent in the stand, but a big dent in their truck. Next, they used a cargo strap to wrap around it to pull it out of the ground, & the cement finally gave way. The beauty of this incident is that, by that time, my dogs started barking & it chased them away. We kept the nearly new cargo strap!
The mailbox looks a little worse for wear & I have to get new numbers, but I’m glad I still have a mailbox!
Thanks for best built mailbox ever!

We installed this product because many mail boxes in our area have been broken into. No more of that.

Strong box, could shoot though it. – If you are worried about that, then go with the 1/4 steel option.

If you want security, don’t bother with any other brands. Made in Oregon.

I researched all security mailboxes. Look no further.
I bought this basic model. It is 1/8 inch steel. The other models have 1/4 inch steel.
I installed it myself, with little difficulty.
Worth every penny. Sales staff was pleasant on the phone.
Made in Oregon with quality materials.

There was a rash of mail theft in our city. We bought a locking box from the local home improvement store and thought it was handled. Our mail box got broken into 3 times over a 2 week period. At this point, I went on a mission. I went through so of these boxes here on amazon. I found a 5 star review titled “Lasted One Week”. I asked myself why someone would give a perfect review for something that lasted one week. After reading he hit it with a Cat excavator, I knew this is the box for us. We got the mail box, nearly put out our backs moving it around but when you open the box, you are not disappointed:

We saw this mailbox in our neighborhood. It was more sturdy 1/8 inch steel (38 lbs.) and not quite as large as some other locked mailboxes. If you have the company put the house number on the box it’s non refundable, but they did a really nice job. The lock is low profile and would be extremely difficult to pry open. The reason why the box received only 4 stars is because the hardware to mount box is not included. We knew that, but for the price we paid, it should be. The other reason for the 4 star rating is Amazon had a $30 discount when I went to purchase. However, I received an email from the company saying they can’t comply with the shipping date and to cancel the order. Then they would send a link to reorder it. Of course, when I did that, no more $30 discount. I questioned the company and also Amazon, but neither could give me that discount. Amazon rep said you could cancel order again and try to reorder where it shows the $30 discount. We thought it’s becoming a hassle so dropped it. It almost seemed like a bait and switch. Alas, happy with the mailbox. The name of the company I purchased box through Amazon was MBBB Trading.

I don’t write a whole lot of reviews, but this was my best Amazon experience ever, and I use Amazon a lot! Great price, lightning fast shipping, responsive and courteous seller!
I have a house across from the beach with a public road and boardwalk between us and the water. A lot of pedestrian and car traffic. Everyone’s mailboxes are on the road and recently they all got broken into. Not the first time this has happened. Last time I bought a $50 security locking mailbox from the hardware store for deterrence. That didn’t work because this time they just pried the lock and door straight off and took my mail (including an Amazon package)! Same with the neighbors. I decided to play hardball and go for the beefiest mailbox I could find without breaking the bank and decided on the Fort Knox M1-LT.
The mailbox was more than $20 cheaper with this seller on Amazon than anywhere else I could find (even factoring in the shipping). I was skeptical because the price was so good, but took the chance anyway and made the purchase. I contacted UbeatableSale via Amazon asking if they could send my street numbers too and they said yes. The mailbox arrived in 3 days, more than a week before the earliest estimated delivery date and with my street numbers already professionally installed on it! This thing is the genuine article, 35 lbs of solid welded steel and safe-style lock. Indestructible.
Some neighbors and I have a bank of mailboxes that sit on two 2x4s bolted onto the outside of a 4×4 post at each end of the span. I just mounted the box with some lag bolts and washers I already had and it fit perfectly. I couldn’t be happier with this product or seller!

Secure mailbox thieves can’t reach in to.
Finish on top had many imperfections for a product with high claims and price.
Is Amazon getting the Fort Knox seconds ?
Gollum M. –
Best security mailbox Ive ever had. Beats any of the other security mailboxes by a long shot. If you are considering paying 100-200 dollars on a security mailbox, this one is the only one to get. The other ones are still easily broken into if a thief really wants to get your mail. This mailbox prevents any kind of prying or bending of the metal, its too thick to bend easily. I can sleep very good at night with this mailbox. The only way someone is going to get my mail is if they take the post out of the ground.
Raymond T. –
Fantastic mailbox. Very stout, made of quarter inch metal material. Lock works great. Mail slot allows delivery of mail and prevents theft. Slot is designed to prevent people from sticking their hand into the mailbox. I would recommend this product. Although it cost a little more than what is offered at Lowes and Home Depot, the quality construction of this mailbox is second to none. It should be the last mailbox you will ever need.

We love our Fort Knox Mailbox! The owners are great to work with. We appreciate that our mail is secure, even when we can’t pick it up for days. Great purchase, would definitely recommend.

Great mailboxes and service!

In this day and age of sketchy customer service this company is hands-down one of the best ever worked with.
Submitting an incorrect key code for new mailbox keys I was contacted by phone and email by Abigail. Thankfully, I was able to email her and the keys arrived before I knew it (days sooner than I expected).
Thank you to ALL involved you ROCK!!

Nuttin better than a Fort Knox Mailbox. Neighbors are jealous.

I bought my mailbox almost 15 years ago when I bought my house. The installation and delivery was fast, the box is still in great condition and solid in it’s base. I have not had any issues with it and expect it to last longer than anything else in the house.

For various reasons, when you live in certain parts of this country, you *must have* an armored mailbox to get by. There were a bunch of cheaply made foreign made options at Ace Hardware and Home Depot, so I passed on those. I was looking for an American-made USPS certified locking mailbox that could hold up to the bad guys and elements and found Fort Knox Mailbox after some searching. I ended up ordering an M1-LT with post directly from Fort Knox while I was on a trip. The staff at Fort Knox were extremely helpful and followed my delivery instructions to the “T.” When I got the mailbox, I installed it myself.
So far, it’s held up to over ten years of abuse by weather and various “bad guys.” Someone attempted to pry their way in with a large screwdriver but only managed to damage the powder coating. As for quality, the welds, hinge, and overall design of the mailbox and its accompanying post are top tier. I haven’t lost any mail since I purchased my Fort Knox Mailbox and I would buy one again in a heartbeat.

The family behind this local business has been family friends of mine for a long time, so I’ve always known how hardworking and committed they are. Seeing what they’ve built with Fort Knox Mailbox is seriously impressive! These mailboxes are super solid and made with security in mind. It’s clear they really care about the quality of what they’re making, and they don’t mess around when it comes to doing things right.
It’s not just a great product, it’s a small family business that deserves all the support. I’m proud of them and happy to recommend Fort Knox to anyone looking for a mailbox that’s actually built to last as my family has one of our own.

We live up on a hill so our mail box is down in the highway and on the other side of the trees . Despite people trying to break into our box it has remained 100% secure . The investment offers piece of mind knowing no matter what that your mail is secure.

Fort Knox Mailboxes are solid! As a mail carrier, I encounter them often. With mail theft so prevalent these days (especially in rural areas), I believe Fort Knox Mailboxes are one of the best deterrents you can buy.

I received the three mailboxes, in perfect condition. I am impressed with the quality of your workmanship, and am more than pleased with your product. You do a fanstastic job not only with the packing for shiping, but also with the construction and excellent finish. Many years of continued success, for a U.S. made product that leads the industry.
Thanks, Larry

Our neighborhood has been the repeated target of kids stealing mail. Several of us had $70 locking mailboxes from one of the big box hardware stores, not to name names, but very similar sounding to “Home Repo”. Well, those were worthless, thieves would simply jam a screwdriver in and bust the lock. Total waste of money.
After 3 times in one year, we all went together and purchased a row of 10 Fort Knox “light” mailboxes. 33lbs each. These things are amazing, nice high gloss powder coat finish. The owners of Fort Knox Mailboxes, Mike, and his wife Andrea, are awesome to deal with. I had to ask them for 3 different bids over the course of 2 weeks because of all the fun I had trying to get all 9 of my neighbors to agree on what we all wanted. Talk about herding cats…. And the patience and understanding of both Mike and Andrea!
Here’s the ironic part –
LITERALLY the day after they were installed — Thieves struck again. The neighbors up the street had not yet removed their old boxes, so the Post Office delivered their mail into their old boxes the day before. Their mail was strewn all over the street. The perpetrators did not even attempt to get into the new ones—and if they did, not a single scratch of an attempted break in.

Thanks, a lot of miss-information floating around Michigan law enforcement and US post office. Regardless, I made a breakaway wood post that is buried 24 inches in the ground, then cut my 5×5 inch steel post to postal service regulation height, set it over the wooden post and anchored it with lag screws.
You make a great mail box. There were no skid marks as I believe the drunk driver passed out. He hit the mailbox at at least 50 mph. Broke the 4 mounting bolts off in shear. Pulled the post out of the ground. Just scratched the paint and bent the post flange. Had it back together in 15 minutes. Thanks, Wendell
